STUDENTS INTERESTED IN
JOINING NIS CLUB LIVE?
1) It is free to join NIS Club Live (events/field trips may not be free).
2) To become a member and to maintain one's membership one must do the following things: earn all S’s or O’s for their citizenship grades, maintain enrollment at NIS, and exhibit appropriate behavior at NIS Club Live events and activities.
3) All members will gain membership by attending a mandatory membership meeting (promoted throughout the week in the school's morning announcements) and submitting their membership application at the meeting (Thurs. 8-21-15).
For students wanting to become members, but are unable to attend due to being absent, an illness, bereavement, enrolled in NIS after a membership meeting, or have schedule conflict, THEN they must print out the below waiver and
turn it in to Mr. McCullough (room 33) the next school day they attend school.

All students running for office are running to be on the Club Live Executive Committee. Each candidate must be open to assume any of the following offices: president, vice president, secretary, or treasurer.
All candidates must have the following qualifications:
1) grade point average of 3.0 or higher, or advisor approval based upon excellent classroom leadership and club attendance/help.
2) no N's or U's on their previous year and/or trimester report card.
3) be enrolled in one of Mr. McCullough's year-long classes or be a teacher's assistant for Mr. McCullough
4) attend NIS Club Live meetings and events
5) maintain the above qualifications in order to remain in office
6) submit executive committee application on time
DEADLINE FOR APPLICATION IS FRIDAY 8-21-15 during 5th period.
7) attend first membership meeting
8) attend and present speech at election meeting
The student with the most votes will be president, student with the 2nd most votes will be elected vice president, 3rd most secretary, and the 4th highest number of votes will elect the treasurer OR student with the most votes gets to choose which office he/she wants, and the next candidate has the next choice etc. Candidates earning 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th will be alternates in the event an officer leaves office, according to the number of votes they received.

All candidates must give a short, memorized speech (1 - 3 min.) containing the following:
1) introduction/name
2) their passion for Club Live (why, when, and how),
3) qualifications & skills (choose one or more A-E)
A. grade point average / effort / reliability
B. past experiences, club membership, & examples of leadership
C. marketing skills / strategy to market Club Live events & skills they posses that would assist in making meetings/dances fun
E. ideas / vision / what would you like to accomplish?
4) conclusion/thank you
Keys to success on the speech:
1) Do not write out your speech word for word. Instead write down one or a few words for each line on an index card.
2) Decide on a story to tell for each trait you claim to have.
3) Students can hold the index card during their speech, but should only look down briefly to remind themselves of their key points.

NIS CLUB LIVE CONSTITUTION
ARTICLE I: CLUB NAME
Section 1. The name of this organization shall be NIS Club Live.
ARTICLE II: PURPOSE
The mission of this club shall be:
"Encourage students to be active leaders (planning, analyze effectiveness, public speaking, competing in the STAR Meet, performing well academically, & helping the community) and to live a drug free, alcohol free, and tobacco free student life while having fun with their peers through lunch events, activities, dances, meetings, and field trips.”
ARTICLE III: MEMBERSHIP
Any NIS student (7th or 8th grade) who subscribe to the stated purpose, completes the NIS Club Live membership form, *attends the open enrollment meeting or turns in the meeting waiver the following school day the student is in attendance, has no N’s or U’s in 6th-8th grade citizenship grades is eligible. Students must attend all scheduled meetings (one per month) in order to maintain their membership. If an absence is due to illness, or any other valid reason (determined by advisor) the student needs to print out an excused absence form and return it to the club advisor the next school day or prior to the club meeting. Students are encouraged to discuss their planned excused absence with the advisor prior to the club meeting to ensure the student can use the excused absence form. *In lieu of the membership meeting, if a teacher, counselor, or administrator refers a student to Club Live via email, that student may become a member as long as all of the above is completed.
ARTICLE IV: OFFICER AND ADVISOR(S)
Section 1.
All officers are expected to help with each event or meeting, clean up after each event until everything is cleaned up (leaving early can result in immediate removal from office), attend all Executive Committee meeting, successfully email advisor from their personal email so advisor can send reminders and other club information, and work well with the advisor and Executive Committee (good, positive attitude). The 7th grade and 8th grade officers will take turns doing the following at each general meeting (each letter below represents 7th grade and the other letter represents 8th grade officers AND letter "c" represents both 7th and 8th grade officers):
A) take attendance, present the substance prevention information, ask members questions about the information provided, and provide an incentive for correct answers/participation.
B) lead and run the games and activities - gather all materials for each activity, be ready to officiate and communicate the rules and objective of the activity, and record the winners of each round.
C) Clean up and put away all machines and supplies to the satisfaction of the advisor. This should take between 10-30 minutes. All officers are expected to fulfill this duty at the conclusion of every meeting or event.
8th grade officers:
Interim president, vice-president, secretary, and treasurer will be elected at the 2nd to last, or last meeting of the club's school year & represent the club at registration. All candidates (interim and new) will run for office at the first meeting of the next school year. Students elected in May/June will win all ties that occur.
7th grade officers:
The president, vice-president, secretary, and treasurer will be elected between the 1st- 3rd meeting that is held during the current school year. If an officer loses their membership or resigns, the executive committee will vote in the new officer from the Executive Committee. If no student from the executive committee applies for the position a current member can be voted in by the executive committee. If a current member doesn't apply for the position, a non member may apply for the position and the Executive Committee will vote the candidate into office.
Officer candidate qualifications:
1) commit to attending all activities, meetings, dances, and field trips (maximum of 2 total per month)
2) maintaining a grade point average of 3.0 or higher
3) not having any N’s or U’s on their report card
4) attend election meeting and recite speech
5) depart from general meetings 30 minutes after their end time in order to clean up & depart no earlier than 4pm or advisor's early dismissal during executive meetings. The 2016-2017 officers will depart at 4pm since the general meetings end at 3:30pm.
If no students qualify or too few qualify then the students with the greatest qualifications can run for office.
Section 2. Executive Officer Responsibilities:
All members are expected to work as a team to accomplish any/all executive committee objectives as well as objectives made for the club.
President - play an active role in creating fun events, meetings, and activities at the meetings. This means, leading preparation discussions, asking each student to share his/her responsibilities for the next event/meeting, AND making sure all supplies are ready for the event/meeting. Be a role model concerning living a drug free, alcohol free, and tobacco free lifestyle. Possibly organize fund raisers and helping them to be successful. The president can present ideas to fulfill the club’s purpose.
Vice President – Assist the president in accomplishing the duties above.
Secretary – Take meeting notes, type and print meeting notes, deliver one copy to adviser and one copy to the president. Help president organize fundraiser concerning paperwork etc. Write passes two days before the meeting so officers can set-up for the meeting (write, get teacher signature, and distribute the passes).
Treasurer – Keep accurate records for all fundraisers, and assist other club members with fundraising paperwork.
Commissioner of Media - Student must have a smart phone (1 or 2 years old) where they can take video and pictures of meetings and events. Videos need to be provided to advisor via flash drive or USB cord, and pictures can be emailed on the day of event/meeting. All content should be provided to advisor by the end of clean-up of the meeting or if event is not in school campus by Monday.
Commissioner of Marketing - Student creates posters and coordinates hanging and taking down posters. Student is also encouraged to use social media to promote NIS Club Live events.
Commissioner of Food - Student makes sure all supplies are ready for the event or meeting, transports all materials to the event or meeting and back to the appropriate storage area, and serves the food.
Commissioner of Activities - Student helps with activities during meeting/event. This includes planning, getting materials, and running an activity.
Alternates - Students that didn't receive enough votes to be elected for an office will also be part of the
Executive Committee and are encouraged to attend the planning meetings.
REMOVAL FROM OFFICE:
Students can be removed from office at advisor's discretion for not fulfilling their obligations above.
Student will be given a written warning to be signed and returned with the exception of leaving early (immediate removal from office). If warning is not returned or if student doesn't improve student will be removed from office. The Executive Committee will determine whether the student will be given a different office or will be removed from the Executive Committee.
ARTICLE VI: ELECTIONS
The president, vice-president, secretary, and treasurer will be elected anytime within the first three meetings by a simple majority of the attending club members. The student with the most presidential votes will be elected president. The candidate with the 2nd most presidential votes will be elected vice president. The remaining two candidates can decide which office they want to fill. If a decision cannot be determined, the advisor will assign each to an office.
ARTICLE VII: MEETINGS
Section 1. Executive Committee Meeting will be held within five school days after the general club meeting. Meeting will cover strengths and weaknesses of the last regular club meeting and the officers will plan for the next meeting/upcoming events. Members will be invited to the meeting to help plan and suggest ideas.
Section 2. Regular club meetings will be on the first Friday of the month and all members are encouraged
to attend.
Section 3. Meetings will be held within the scheduled school year from September to June after school from 2:15 pm to 3:30 pm.
ARTICLE VIII: COMMITTEES
Section 1. Executive committee will be comprised of the President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Commissioner of Media (pics and vids), Commissioner of Marketing, other Commissioners and the alternates that ran for office but weren't elected.
